A. coriaria is a soil beneficial insect. The adults are small insects about 3 – 4 mm long, their body is shiny dark brown-black and covered with tiny setae. Wings are short. Looking for new places or in a case of danger, they can fly over short distances. Due to the high activity and mobility of this predator, it is recommended to use it only in glasshouses.
After the egg instar, A. coriaria goes through 3 larval stages and a pupal instar before reaching the adult one. The adult female lays 100-150 eggs during its life cycle. Eggs hatch into yellowish larvae in 3-4 days. A. coriaria larvae are yellow to brown in color.
The larva develops in 3 stages. It is a very active and voracious predator. At the end of the larval instar larva turns into the pupa, then this pupa turns into the imago.
The complete life cycle takes 10 to 22 days. This predator has a diapause, but in greenhouse, it can develop throughout the year.

Each adult A. coriaria consumes 10-20 prey daily. In the absence of food, the insect shows sign of cannibalism.
A. coriaria can live in different substrates. Because the predator has a longer life cycle we recommend using the first release with Hypoaspis miles for the best results. The release of this beneficial insect is carried out evenly all over the area, the material is poured in equal parts into the root zone of the plant. Don’t use it as a preventive measure because of possible cannibalism signs. One application is enough at the vegetation beginning. Later some releases are carried out up to the population will be stabilized.
